À PROPOS ARTICREA
09-15 Sep. 2024
Tunisian craftsmanship is an invaluable intangible heritage, embodying centuries of tradition and expertise passed down from generation to generation. It is a true pillar of Tunisian cultural identity and plays a crucial role in the country's economic and social development. Tunisia boasts numerous artisanal skills renowned worldwide. These ancestral techniques, carefully and passionately maintained, contribute to the country's reputation as a center of high-quality artisanal production. Tunisian artisanal products are prized not only for their beauty and authenticity but also for the history and craftsmanship they represent. From textiles to pottery, jewelry, and rugs, each piece reflects a unique and precious cultural heritage. Craftsmanship is one of the most flourishing economic sectors in Tunisia, as evidenced by the export revenues of Tunisian artisanal products reaching over 40 million euros in 2022. It is an important sector for the country, providing over 7,000 direct jobs and contributing 4.5% to the GDP. This economic dynamism reflects not only the quality of artisanal creations but also the ability of the 300,000 artisans in the country to innovate and adapt to international markets while preserving their traditional techniques. The ArtiCréa fair offers professionals from around the world an exceptional showcase of Tunisian craftsmanship. This event highlights the diversity of Tunisian products that blend artisanal skills with creative richness, allowing buyers, distributors, and craft enthusiasts worldwide to connect with numerous artisanal businesses. ArtiCréa thus embodies the values of the National Office of Handicrafts, whose mission is to promote and enhance Tunisian craftsmanship so that this cultural and creative wealth continues to shine around the world.

WHO ARE WE?
The National Office of Tunisian Handicrafts is a public, non-administrative company under the Ministry of Tourism, established by law no. 133 on October 14, 1959.
ONAT aims to bring together various actors in the sector through a major event to revitalize their activities and support local creative talents. Thus, a space has been reserved for young promoters to offer them more visibility and introduce them to the general public. In the "Creation" space, contemporary designers representing different governorates showcased their latest innovations, which are both original and surprising, while being inspired by millennia-old know-how. ONAT also organized various competitions as part of this 39th edition to reward the skills of Tunisian designers. In this regard, the organization of the wood sculpture olympiad aimed to reward the best artisans and to rediscover the craft through the establishment of an "inspiration" space.
Unveiling new creations or highlighting ancestral know-how, wonder, as well as nostalgia, were present in the stands of the 1200 exhibitors..
